Episode 31: Reading, Writing & Heretics!

Dante
Chaucer
Jan Hus

This is a rather eclectic episode, digging into literacy and communication methods in the late Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation.  The move from Latin to writing in the vernacular.  We’ll also discuss the tortured history of heretics, especially Jan Hus, and whether reformers like Martin Luther had a reason to be a little fearful.

Just finished Episode 31 and will be anxiously waiting for the next episode. I’ve always wanted to learn more about Martin Luther and these podcasts have been more than I could have asked for. Truly enjoy all the background information as you lead up to his writing of the 95 thesis. I just discovered these podcasts and listened to them all over a 4 week period driving back and forth to Tupelo from Olive Branch to babysit my grandchildren each week. I feel like I’m now waiting to hear “the rest of the story” like Billy Graham would say on his radio stories. Thank you for taking so much time to research and record your podcasts, they are just awesome. I’m beginning to enjoy podcasts more than reading a book myself. I can actually be driving on “reading so to speak” at the same time.
